STEM challenge - 26 Sep 2026

Deal Group have been investigating the suitability of different materials for specific purposes.

First, they completed a STEM challenge to design and build mini umbrellas using a range of materials.

They then tackled the challenge of setting up their own investigation, using problem-solving skills to organise the test equipment and position the test tubes correctly. To ensure the experiment was a fair test, they carefully measured equal amounts of water before pouring it into mini watering cans and testing each material.

The results showed that fewer materials were waterproof than we had expected
